KHCA meets three times a year for general meetings, usually in
September, February, and May. Meeting announcement flyers will be
delivered to your door and may also appear in the Kensington Gazette.
The
KHCA Executive Committee meets at 7:30 PM on the second Tuesday of each
month, usually at the home of the president. Meetings are open to the
membership; contact Carl Day if
you’d like to attend. The Executive Committee is made up of the officers
and committee chairs. Feel free to
contact any of these people with questions or concerns.
KHCA
has established a Block Captain communication system. Block Captains distribute meeting notices and
the KHCA newsletter three times a year, report any concerns or security issues
to an Executive Committee member, and notify their designated houses about
special meetings or other important issues.
Block Captains are listed on page 6 of the Directory and are updated on
our Web site. For questions about the
Block Captain system, contact coordinator Donna Savage (McComas Ct.).
KHCA
is represented by the president or a designee at a wide variety of citizen’s
association groups and County government meetings. We keep up with
issues of interest to Kensington Heights and then report back to you, for
information or for action. Contact any of the officers
if you have a particular issue you’d like to follow.
KHCA’s Web site
is full of relevant information that is kept up to date. In
addition to the usual citizens association information, there is also a
“service providers” section where you can rate or read ratings of service
providers from plumbers to accountants.
KHCA
News is the newsletter for Kensington Heights. It is printed
at least three times a year and is delivered to your door along with the
general meeting notices. If you would like to contribute information or
technical talent to the newsletter, please contact any of the officers. A
copy of our newsletters can be found on this web site.
Got e-mail? Keep up with relevant information for Kensington Heights by giving your e-mail address to christina.sarlo@gmail.com The KHCA News On-line will come to your e-mailbox at least every other week.
Committee
volunteers are always welcome! Contact the appropriate chair to find
out what’s going on. If there’s a committee you’d like to start, please
contact one of the officers.
The
KH Directory is a by-street-address listing of the nearly 700 residents
of Kensington Heights. The latest edition was prepared and distributed in
September 2004, at no cost to KH residents. In between printings, an
officer keeps the listings up to date. To update the listing for your
address, contact your Block Captain or an officer.
New
to Montgomery County? If you are, a couple of neighborly items to
note: dogs must be leashed at all times and cleaned up after, County-wide quiet
hours are 9 PM to 7 AM on weekdays and 9 PM to 9 AM on weekends, and please
maintain the County-wide residential speed limit of 25 mph throughout the
neighborhood. A listing of the most widely used local government
telephone numbers appears on page iii of the Directory and here.
Security
issues have not been a major concern in our neighborhood, but three blocks
have already joined the Neighborhood Watch program. To organize this
program on your block, contact Deborah Billings (Drumm Ct.) or Jane Harding
(McComas Ave.), Traffic & Safety Committee co-chairs. Please report
any suspicious activity immediately to the police 911 if an emergency or
301-279-8000 for non-emergencies. Contact any of your officers to update
our information on incidents you report to the police as well as those you do
not.
Dues
(you knew we’d get to this topic!) are currently $10 per calendar year
per household. Money collected is used for KHCA s operating expenses
(such as xeroxing and meeting room rental), to
support special events (such as Traffic Awareness Day), and to support special
projects. Anyone may attend and speak at general KHCA meetings, but only
dues-payers may vote or hold office. Contact the KHCA Treasurer or you
can pay at the next general meeting, with cash or a check made out to KHCA.
We
wish you the best and hope to see you at the next KHCA general meeting!
